I NEVER WANT TO MOVE AGAIN!
One of the most horrible experiences in my life has to be moving out of my apartment! When I decided to give up my career and city living for a life of travel and adventure I not only moved once, I moved three times in one year! Ugh! What a nightmare! I never want to move again!
First, I moved out of my one bedroom apartment where I had lived the first 6 years of my twenties. Who knew how much stuff you could accumulate over the years? I had no idea how complicated the process could be. I was moving out of my apartment literally until I had to drive to the airport to catch my flight to Africa. Even though I had one month in advance to leave my apartment and prepare myself, leave it to me to procrastinate for one of the biggest and most horrendous experiences of my life.
Even though a few of my good friends and parents came over to help me I felt really bad about putting them through my misery. I hated to put them on the spot and make them give up their valuable weekend to help out an irresponsible procrastinator. Talk about a true test of friendship! It was a never-ending project and I didn’t learn my lesson and proceeded to move again twice later that year.
Upon deciding to travel I didn’t realize at first how addicted I’d become. Originally I planned to travel for 6 months but then I made the decision to go on a round-the-world trip. No way could I afford storage for all my belongings and furniture for another year.
Here I went again – this time moving all my earthly possessions out of my storage and into a friend’s house so I could then sell my furniture and avoid paying storage fees.
But no, that wasn’t the end of it. I still had one more move left that year when I took what was left of my furniture and moved it from my friend’s house to my parents.
My life since then has been a nomadic one. However, when I finally settle down I will make sure not to make the same mistakes again. It’s not worth the headache. I’d rather pay someone to help me out than have to go through the moving ordeal all over again on my own.
Well, what better way to release my frustrations than by complaining to a professional moving guy? I wish I would have thought to hire a private and professional mover instead of doing it myself. Live and learn and never again!
