Places to Visit in Bristol

One of the most popular areas of Bristol for visitors is the historic Harbourside area, which is popular with families and tourists.

The Bristol Aquarium

Harbourside is home to the Bristol Aquarium which offers a fantastic day out for anyone enthusiastic about marine life and our natural world.

The Aquarium houses tropical, marine and fresh water species from around the world, all homed in themed habitats that mirror their natural surroundings.

You'll find a wide variety of creatures from the British coastal waters all the way to exotic species from the tropical seas.  Hi-lights include an amazing life size recreation of a sunken ship, an open top coral seas display and a sea-horse display.  Our personal favourite is the coral seas which are home to awesome sharks that you can encounter close up in the walk through tunnel!

SS Great Britain

Also in the Harbourside area, you'll find the world's first great ocean liner,a steam ship that is the city's number one attraction.

The SS Great Britain was the idea of one of the most famous Bristolians of all time, Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

The ship was rescued in 1970 and has since then been carefully restored to its glorious best.  It really is a fantastic piece of engineering to be admired, as is the restoration work itself.  Don't visit Bristol without seeing the magnificent SS Great Britain first hand for yourself.
